Introducing the newest member of our family....
Carson Blaze
7 lbs 15 oz 20.25 in
We are so glad he's here with us! And he gets to share his birthday with Grandpa Christensen :)
And he didn't have a name until Thursday(2/14) when we filled out the birthday certificate form. I wanted Carson the entire time but Brian was a little hesitant. I'm glad we finally decided on it! As for Blaze, I found it online and we both really liked it! Brian really wanted Aslan but I wasn't having it...I didn't want him named after a lion!
As badly as I wanted him to come early, I never really thought he would be almost a week early! I woke up contracting on Tuesday(2/12) but I thought nothing of it. Just figured it was false labor and preparing my body for the real thing. My step dad, Lars, was leaving for Alabama for a new job on Wednesday morning so he was really hoping this baby would be here before he left but I wasn't thinking he was going to make it. I decided to go play Bunco Tuesday night, hoping that the contractions would go away but by the time Bunco was over, the contractions were stronger and I couldn't concentrate through the game. The only reason I finished the game was because my grandma(GG) was coming to stay with the kids and she was playing with me. By this time, I had sent Brian a text saying "don't go to bed. we are having a baby!". I headed home and GG went home to grab some things to sleep at our house. GG finally made it over and we were off to the hospital!
We arrived at the hospital around 10:30pm. I was put on the monitors for about 20 min and I was 4 cm so they sent me to walk around for an hour and then they would check me again. They said if I hadn't progressed then they would send me home(something I didn't want to happen!). Let's just say I walked the hour while Brian slept in a chair in the hallway! When I was done walking, they checked me and I was 5 1/2 cm so needless to say I was staying at the hospital and we were having a baby! Wahoo!
I let my mom and GG know that we would be staying and so my mom got up and got ready to come to the hospital. By the time they sent me to my Labor and Delivery room, the contractions had picked up even more and were getting more painful. We got to our new room about 1 AM and Brian was passed out by 1:15 ;) They allowed me to walk around and stay off the monitors for about 30 min and then they hooked me back up. And why in the world do they give you all the paperwork to fill out while your in labor and can barely concentrate?! Rude! I had finally had enough of the pain and asked my nurse for an epidural so she started my IV and I had to finish 1 bag of fluids before I could get an epidural. It seemed like an eternity before the anesthesiologist got to my room! And guess what?! Brian slept through this whole process! Aw this epidural felt amazing. And I was 7 cm!
Brian's position til it was time to push!
they aren't allowed to say husband...what is this world coming to?! Now I will refer to him as my partner in caring ;)
"what it's time to push?!"
his head was a little odd shaped
Mom hurried to call Lars so that he could come see us on his way out of town. He was very happy he was able to meet Carson before he left!
Reagan had dance so my mom and GG brought the kids up to meet Carson after dance and lunch. They were so excited to see him! I was a little worried how Bryson would act but he loved Carson!
